In Q2 2022, LCap was engaged pre-deal by a leading lower mid-market Private Equity firm to help assess the leadership team of a business they had entered into exclusivity with. The key questions the client was looking to answer included:
How is the incumbent management team set up from a functional balance perspective?
Is the incumbent management set up well to deliver their value creation plan?
Does the incumbent management team possess good behavioural complimentary and diversity?
What changes, if any, could be made to optimise the team for success within their specific value creation plan?
To develop insight and understanding around these questions, LCap undertook a 3-week arm’s length Leadership Dynamics project to provide recommendations against the key questions. The work undertaken included:
An evaluation of the structure, experience, and projected behaviours using Leadership Dynamics’ Leadership Success Propensity Model for the asset.
Thorough PACE-based interviews with the incumbent management team.
A roadmap to support the PE firm and asset to optimise the management team’s value creation capability.
This Leadership Dynamics pre-deal analysis provided the Private Equity firm with a clear and rigorous understanding of the leadership teams capability to deliver their value strategy plan and a clear pathway to maximise that business’ value creation potential.
